Kylian Mbappe’s impressive form at the 2026 FIFA World Cup continued against Morocco.
The French captain has been on an insane goalscoring run as he bagged his eighth goal of the tournament vs. Morocco.
Aside from scoring the opener in the 60th minute, Kylian Mbappe also assisted Ousmane Dembele’s goal six minutes later, taking his assist tally to three.
Evidently, Mbappe’s sensational form at the World Cup has caught the attention of US fans, who often follow other sports.

NBA fans think Kylian Mbappe is the Luka Doncic of soccer
Thanks to the US being one of the hosts of the 2026 FIFA World Cup, the likes of Mbappe and Erling Haaland have gained massive popularity in the country. This, of course, includes NBA fans.
After seeing Haaland’s brace against Brazil in the Round of 16, NBA fans compared him to Miami Heat superstar Giannis Antetokounmpo. Now, NBA fans had a detailed discussion about Mbappe’s basketball equivalent.
“He honestly has none; it would be a mix of KD and Steph,” a fan stated. While another added, “On the scoring capability? It’s easily Luka.”
“I’d say Luka Doncic. Both are 27 years of age. Both have also played for Real Madrid in their different sports. Both are at the peak of their prime,” a third fan pointed out.
“It has to be Luka,” a fourth fan wrote. “It’s definitely Luka, really good, really young. Became one of the best in the world by the time he was 20.”
Despite some fans comparing Mbappe to the likes of Kevin Durant, Stephen Curry, or even Allen Iverson, the majority agreed on Doncic being his perfect NBA equivalent.
After all, both players are in the respective primes of their careers, and they both share history with Real Madrid. To make things even more intriguing, Doncic is chasing the NBA MVP trophy, while Mbappe is yet to get his hands on soccer’s ultimate prize, the Ballon d’Or.
