Crystal Palace defender Marc Guehi may have dropped a hint about what his stance would be on moving to Newcastle United.
After an outstanding Euro 2024 tournament, with Marc Guehi earning praise from Steve Bruce, the Crystal Palace defender has been heavily linked with a move away from Selhurst Park.
HITC has previously reported that Manchester United and Liverpool were interested in Guehi with Palace demanding £60 million.
Palace’s stance on the sale of the former Chelsea defender is understood to be the same but it is Eddie Howe’s Newcastle United who have entered the race for Guehi.

Marc Guehi drops Newcastle United hint
Despite Newcastle reaching a broad agreement on terms with Malick Thiaw, HITC understands that the Magpies are in talks with Palace over Guehi.
Having already lost Michael Olise to Bayern Munich this summer, Palace are understood to have been firm in the stance on Guehi and team-mate Eberechi Eze in that they don’t want another big sale.
However, despite Palace’s position on the potential sale of Guehi, as well as Eze who has been linked with Tottenham and Liverpool, Newcastle actually believe they could get Guehi for cheaper than the Eagles’ £60 million valuation.
It is unclear what Guehi’s stance would be on moving to St James’ Park but an interview with the defender during Euro 2024 may well give the fans a hint of his stance.
When asked what his favourite stadium to play in was, the English defender said: “In terms of the Premier League, I’d have to say probably Newcastle.
“St James’ Park, it’s loud in there and the fans always make it difficult for us when we play there.”
Guehi could be statement signing Newcastle desperately need
This summer has been one of frustration for Newcastle with Eddie Howe’s side yet to make an outfield signing during the transfer window.
Nottingham Forest goalkeeper Odysseas Vlachodimos joined Newcastle back in June but no outfield signings have been made.
Anthony Gordon was approached by Liverpool over a move but Newcastle managed to sell Yankuba Minteh to Brighton & Hove Albion instead.
However, if the Geordie side pulls off the signing of Guehi, to eventually partner Sven Botman, then Newcastle would have the best defence in the division.
If the Magpies believe they can strike a deal at the £50 million mark for the defender, this would be one of the deals of the summer.
