Manchester City miss out on Kenan Yildiz

One young striker who won’t be joining City this summer is Kenan Yildiz.

HITC understands that Juventus starlet Yildiz shunned interest from City this summer prior to signing a new long-term deal in Turin.

Juventus never entertained the idea of losing the German-born Turkish international – who joined them from Bayern Munich in 2022.

However, HITC understands that there was interest from England with City the strongest suitors whilst Arsenal and Chelsea were also spoken to by intermediaries.

City registered their interest, but Yildiz was never had his head turn and committed to Juventus this week.

Yildiz has now signed a new deal until 2029 and has been given one piece of major backing by the Serie A side.

Yildiz has been handed the iconic number 10 shirt at Juve and will follow in the footsteps of players such as Liam Brady, Michael Laudrup, Roberto Baggio, Paulo Di Canio, Alessandro Del Piero and Michel Platini.

Who is Kenan Yildiz?

Yildiz hails from Regensburg in Germany came through with hometown clubs Sallern Regensburg and Jahn Regensburg.

Bayern Munich pounced to land Yildiz at the age of just seven and he went on to spend 10 years in their ranks.

Yildiz saw his contract expire in 2022 and despite Bayern’s attempts to keep him, he walked away and joined Juventus.

Now a first-team talent in Turin, Yildiz hit four goals in 32 first-team games last season whilst playing as a striker, number 10 or winger.

The 19-year-old even played at Euro 2024, starting four games for Turkey and coming off the bench in another.

Backed as a ‘wonderful’ talent by former Juve boss Max Allegri, as quoted by Calciomio, Yildiz will now look to live up to that potential with Juve rather than heading to City.
