HITC understands that Manchester United remain in talks with Fulham over a deal for Scott McTominay.

The London outfit have identified Scott McTominay as a potential replacement for Joao Palhina, and they have now tabled a bid.

HITC revealed earlier this week that Fulham were preparing a bid for McTominay and it is understood that Manchester United have now turned down an offer of £23million.

However, the two sides remain in talks over a potential deal with Fulham growing in confidence that they can get a deal over the line for the 27-year-old.

United initially set a price tag of £40million for McTominay, but Fulham now believe a deal can be done for under £30million with Erik ten Hag’s side needing to sell.

Fulham are not alone in their interest in McTominay with Turkish giants Galatasaray and Fenerbahce also enquiring about him in recent weeks.

Scott McTominay sale can fund Manuel Ugarte move

United are under pressure to complete sales in order to do more business of their own this summer.

Club chiefs had hoped that the sale of Casemiro would be done by now but they are now prepared to sell McTominay to raise funds and make space.

HITC revealed that United have held talks with the Saudi Pro League for Casemiro, but progress is stalling.

United wanted to sign Manuel Ugarte before their pre-season tour of the United States, but they have been unable to finalise a deal for the Paris Saint-Germain midfielder.

However, letting McTominay move to Fulham will allow them to push ahead with a deal for Manuel Ugarte.

HITC understands that PSG are willing to let Ugarte go on loan with an obligation to buy, but United first need to make room for him.

Erik ten Hag on Scott McTominay

Ten Hag will be eager to bring in more midfield reinforcements this summer, but it is a big sacrifice to lose McTominay.

The Scotland international scored 10 goals in all competitions for Ten Hag’s side last summer, despite being an option off the bench for much of the campaign.

Ten Hag is a big admirer of McTominay, previously hailing him as “great” earlier this year. However, if selling him to make space for Ugarte is the only option, then so be it.
