England have adopted the Oasis classic Wonderwall as their anthem for the 2026 World Cup in the United States, Canada and Mexico.
While ‘Three Lions’ and ‘Sweet Caroline’ are often heard during a summer in which England are competing for major international honours, the iconic 1995 Oasis anthem has been belted out this year.
😬 After underwhelming AGAIN, which player left at home are England SCREAMING out for?
There are plenty of stars to choose from…
There were emotional scenes of the players and fans coming together to sing it after the dramatic win over DR Congo in the round of 32, and the nation is hoping to continue that over the next two weeks.
Oasis frontman and music legend Liam Gallagher might even make an appearance if the Three Lions do reach the final on Sunday, July 19, in New Jersey.
Liam Gallagher suggests Oasis could play at World Cup final
Gallagher was asked by a fan on social media platform X if he and his brother Noel would attend the World Cup final should England get there.
He responded with: “Of course and we’ll sing WW [Wonderwall] live.”
Jude Bellingham was spotted singing Wonderwall after England beat Croatia, while supporters serenaded Harry Kane with the iconic line “you’re going to be the one that saves me” after he stepped up to score a brace in the final stages against DR Congo.

Clearly, Gallagher could be joking, but that would no doubt be a dream for supporters. Britain was gripped by Oasis fever last summer as the Manchester band reformed after a 15-year split, with the group remaining as popular as ever.
Wonderwall is one of the group’s most iconic songs. Released in 1995 as part of their seminal ‘(What’s the Story) Morning Glory?’ album, it has been played worldwide ever since.
The idea of Oasis singing it live before England (potentially) play in a World Cup final is a mouth-watering prospect for supporters.
For the second summer in a row, fans could perhaps be treated to more brilliant performances from Oasis.
