Celtic fans are eagerly awaiting to see whether or not they sign much-wanted Norwich City striker, Adam Idah.
The 23-year-old thrived during his short loan spell under Brendan Rodgers last season and became a fan favourite pretty much straight away.
Idah scored the winner as Celtic beat Rangers in the Scottish Cup final, with everyone pretty clear from there on that they needed to bring him in on a permanent basis.
Yet, fast forward to the present, and the Irishman is still a Norwich player with fans hoping some sort of deal will get done soon.
Kris Boyd has spoken about Brendan Rodgers ‘needing reinforcements’ in that area, even though they have started the season like a house on fire.
Celtic beat Hibernian 2-0 on Sunday – six goals in their opening two matches and they are yet to concede a goal.
And now things have just got better because Celtic have made a key breakthrough in their quest to sign Idah, as sources have told HITC.
It’s only a matter of time before the Bhoys get their man and he returns to Glasgow to help the team win yet another title.
But Boyd did express his ’surprise’ about how the powers that be at Parkhead have gone about signing the player because he thinks they are now having to ‘pay more’ for the hitman.
The former striker thinks Celtic should have had something in place in January to permanently sign the player and how ‘it’s not like Celtic’ to be in such a situation, as he told Sky Sports Football (11/08/24 at 3:05 pm).
Celtic’s Adam Idah transfer deal
“I am a little bit surprised with the Adam Idah one,” said Boyd. “You look at the deals Celtic have done and they have been very good at it over the years.
“I am a little bit surprised they didn’t negotiate a deal with Adam Idah in January or with Norwich, with a price to buy. It was the same with Bernardo. It has been the same with Cameron Carter-Vickers.
“When you go back through the transfers Celtic have made. When you go back to January, there were question marks over Idah. But he has gone there, given them a platform, he has taken it, and now all of a sudden, Celtic are having to pay more than they wanted to because they have given him the platform to go and perform. I am very surprised. It’s not like Celtic, to be honest, that they haven’t structured that deal. I am surprised Celtic didn’t get that tied up because Celtic need reinforcements in that area.”

Can Celtic keep Matt O’Riley?
Yes, Idah is the man Celtic fans want and they are now going to get their wish, but the best deal of the summer would be to keep Matt O’Riley.
As usual, he has looked like his sparkling best in pre-season, including helping Celtic beat Manchester City in pre-season and start the new campaign strongly.

But it’s looking likely that the Denmark international could be out of the door by the time the summer transfer window slams shut at the end of the month.
Sources have told HITC that Celtic have received a bid of £25 million+ for O’Riley, with several clubs, including Europa League winners Atalanta, keen on his talents.
