Gabriel Agbonlahor says what happened during Celtic’s win at Hibernian he hasn’t seen in ’20 years’

Celtic have made a rapid start to the new Scottish Premiership season after they outclassed Hibernian 2-0 at Easter Road on Sunday.

Brendan Rodgers watched his team put four goals past Kilmarnock for their Premiership opener last week and they have now continued that on the road.

This shouldn’t be a surprise because Celtic beat Manchester City in pre-season and that was a sign of things to come.

There were many bumps in the road when the Bhoys clinched another title last season, but despite a few negative noises, they still won the double.

Rodgers was defended for his second debut season at Celtic and now his team look like the side that went unbeaten and won the treble when he first took charge.

It was a quick start from Celtic when Nicolas Kuhn opened the scoring after three minutes following a rapid breakaway.

Before captain Callum McGregor struck a magnificent effort from outside the box to double his side’s lead after 20 minutes.

The game was done and dusted by then, as Celtic were all over their opponents and it impressed Gabriel Agbonlahor.

The former Aston Villa striker stated on Twitter that he couldn’t believe how ‘one-sided’ the game was and it’s something he hasn’t seen in ’20 years’. 

In the end, Celtic had around 74% possession, with 19 efforts on goal, and seven on target, with goalkeeper Kasper Schmeichel not having a save to make.

“Hibernian vs Celtic is the most one-sided game I’ve watched in 20 years,” said Agbonlahor.

Despite such a strong start, fans want those new faces through the doors and Paulo Bernardo’s return isn’t enough.

Adam Idah’s transfer links to Celtic continue to rumble on, whilst Matt O’Riley was at his best, as usual, against Hibs.

Sources have told HITC that Celtic have received a £25 million+ bid for O’Riley, with it looking likely that the playmaker will head for the exit door. 

Whether he stays or leaves, the club need to further enhance the squad, especially if they want to compete in the Champions League ahead of the new campaign.
