Kevin Durant and LeBron James have shared the NBA stage for the last 20 years, and now Durant is sharing where he wants to see the 41-year-old legend go next.
Durant and LeBron have had a somewhat fierce rivalry over their careers, spanning three NBA Finals matchups from 2011 to 2018. KD is entering his 20th season, while James will embark on a record-shattering 24th NBA season.
Durant will be on the Houston Rockets, but with James’ decision still unknown, Durant had some interesting thoughts on the matter.
Kevin Durant names two East contenders as likely LeBron James destinations
During an interview at an MLB game where Durant was appearing as a fan, the 38-year-old forward said he thinks James will be headed back to the Cleveland Cavaliers, with the Philadelphia 76ers also in the race with a ‘big chance.’
“That’s the million-dollar question, I wish I knew. In my heart of hearts, I think it’s Cleveland, but Philly got a big chance too… They say Golden State is in it, too; either way, it’s gonna be a movie. He’s gonna ball out.”
Durant considered the possibility of James heading to Golden State as well, with rumors ramping up that the Warriors are surging as a potential James destination.
James averaged 20.9 points, 6.1 rebounds, and 7.2 assists last season. He’d be an easy fit into the starting five of either the 76ers or the Cavaliers, with great on and off-court forces at play with each franchise in their recruiting attempts.

The Warriors need LeBron a lot more than he needs them, given the competitive options he already has at his disposal.
LeBron has shared no timeline on his announcement, but many expect he’ll announce his plans on Thursday or Friday while conducting a live podcast at the Fanatics Fest.
Durant suggesting Cleveland and Philly might be a way to guarantee that the pair are in opposite conferences once again after spending the last three seasons as rivals in the West.
