Manchester City forward Julian Alvarez has opened up about his future at the club this summer, which looks far from certain.

HITC had previously reported that Julian Alvarez was keen to leave Manchester City this summer with Chelsea keen on the Argentine forward this summer.

However, City’s stance on the situation has been that they have no desire to sell the Argentine this summer with Atletico Madrid also keen on the 24-year-old centre-forward.

City has rebuffed enquiries for Alvarez from European clubs and teams in the Saudi Pro League this summer.

Julian Alvarez opens up on City future

Alvarez has naturally been the backup to Norwegian striker Erling Haaland, who has been a revelation for City since moving to the club from Borussia Dortmund in 2022.

In a recent interview with South American outlet Clarin, Alvarez has opened up about his future at the club.

“Last season, I was one of the players with the most minutes at City. But… in the end, you don’t like being left out of important matches; you want to contribute,” he said. “I’ll take my time to think about what I want for myself. We’ll see.

“I feel good at City. We will see what happens after [the] Olympics. Maybe it’s annoying to be out in big games, players always want to help on the pitch! But my season was good, so I’m very happy.”

Alvarez featured in 36 Premier League games for City last season, starting 31 of these, and he scored 11 goals and provided eight assists for the Citizens.

Alvarez has a big decision to make over City future

The Argentine striker has been a success since moving to the Premier League champions but he is not always a guaranteed starter.

Despite his struggles to be one of the first names on the City teamsheet, there is an argument to be made that Alvarez is the best January signing City have made.

Alvarez will be left with a big choice this summer and he wouldn’t be the first player to leave City with the hopes of more game time.

Raheem Sterling and Leroy Sane are other examples of this happening in the past and the Argentine will have to ensure his next career move is the right one.
