Jamie O’Hara has said that Tottenham Hotspur look hopeless every time Cristian Romero is not available, as was the case in their 4-1 annihilation at the hands of Leicester City, which was criticised by Tim Sherwood as well.
The £29,0000-a-week ace was suspended for the contest, after getting himself mindlessly sent off in Spurs’ 1-0 win against Manchester City. As a result, Japhet Tanganga was brought into the side to replace the Argentina central defender.
However, the absence of Cristian Romero in the Tottenham defence was sorely felt, as the visitors succumbed to a battering at the hands of Leicester on Saturday.
Jamie O’Hara points Cristian Romero influence as Tottenham lose to Leicester
The defending for every goal that Antonio Conte’s side conceded was laughable to witness, as rudimentary errors at the back costed their side all the points on a day, after a brilliant day at the office against the Premier League champions just last weekend.

However, Jamie O’Hara has said that the suspension to Cristian Romero was the main reason why Tottenham looked as exposed as they did at the back against Leicester, tweeting, “No point us [Tottenham Hotspur] turning up if [Cristian] Romero ain’t playing.”
In our view: Jamie O’Hara is partially right
Sure, the former Juventus defender is inarguably his side’s standout defender.
However, Cristian Romero, especially since the World Cup has been extremely rash and perhaps as mindless in some of his decision-making, which begs the question about whether he was indeed as missed as Jamie O’Hara thinks for Tottenham against Leicester. Cristian Stellini admitted to his recklesness as well ahead of the game, while Gary Neville was a fan of his tenacity.
Also, considering Antonio Conte is renowned for having a stable defensive set-up wherever he goes, the problem seems to run even deeper than just the personnel, as it has to be said that one of the most renowned coaches in world football should have a less vulnerable defensive structure at the back.
