Liverpool continued their 100% start to the new Premier League season by beating Brentford 2-0 at Anfield on Sunday.
Arne Slot’s first game ended with a win at Ipswich last Saturday and now he has got another three points on the board for his first home match.
Jamie Carragher was on commentary for Sky Sports during the game and he raised a ‘big problem’ with Darwin Nunez towards the end of the match.
The 25-year-old came off the bench for the first time under Slot against the Bees, with the likes of Luis Diaz, Diogo Jota and Cody Gakpo preferred ahead of him.
Nunez has had a mixed time at Liverpool following his transfer to the Merseyside giants during the summer of 2022.
He moved to Liverpool for a huge transfer fee, so that didn’t help matters because it just put extra pressure on his shoulders.
But Nunez’s main issue has been his lack of composure and clinical edge in the final third, but that wasn’t Carragher’s problem with the versatile player.
Another player who came off from the bench against Brentford was Harvey Elliott and he looked lively on the right flank when he replaced Mohamed Salah.
Elliott whipped in a brilliant ball with his right foot and it was headed wide by Nunez at the near post, before the offside flag was raised.
Carragher stated that is a ‘big problem’ in Nunez’s game and it’s something that needs to change pretty quickly – Nunez was offside 33 times last season – more than any other player – Chelsea’s Nicolas Jackson was next with 28.
The former centre-back urged Slot and his coaching staff to ‘fix’ the issue because Jurgen Klopp never managed to do so, as he told Sky Sports Premier League (25/08/24 at 6:15 pm).
Darwin Nunez offside
“He takes it quick Elliott, he wants to take it on his left foot, but he knows he can’t,” said Carragher. “He is a long way offside, Nunez.
“That’s a big problem of his now that he has to fix. Hopefully, Arne Slot and his coaching staff can do it.”

Liverpool’s summer transfer window
Liverpool are yet to sign a player this summer and it has just put a dark cloud over the club, but Slot is clearing all of that away, as of this moment.
Two games. Two wins. Two clean sheets. And two calm performances. A lot is starting to change after Klopp and now fans are excited to see what follows.

The summer transfer deadline slams shut next Friday and the Anfield faithful will be hoping FSG provide something for their new manager.
Then, attention will turn to a trip to Old Trafford on Sunday. Gary Neville made his Manchester United and Liverpool prediction at the start of the season and he will be left further red-faced if his team lose to their old rivals.
