Arsenal and Tottenham have been dealt a major blow in their attempts to sign Yousouffa Moukoko from Borussia Dortmund.
What’s the story?
Well, both Antonio Conte and Mikel Arteta wanted to sign the Germany international – according to TEAMtalk.
It was said that the north London duo were preparing bids for Moukoko with his contract set to expire at the end of the season.
Now, however, Borussia Dortmund have made significant progress in discussions over an extension, when it initially looked as if the Bundesliga outfit may be about to lose their precocious 18-year-old.
According to Fabrizio Romano, Moukoko will sign a new contract today, putting pen to paper on fresh terms running until June 2026 and also putting an end to speculation regarding his future.
TEAMtalk added that Newcastle, Manchester United, Liverpool and Chelsea also wanted to sign the teenage sensation.
Romano – arguably the most reliable journalist around when it comes to transfer news – believes it is a “done deal” between Borussia Dortmund and Moukoko, with the German striker deciding to stay as he loves the club.
So far this season, the Borussia Dortmund No.18 has scored six goals while also providing six assists, form which earned him a place in the Germany World Cup squad.
Arsenal & Tottenham miss out on a gem in Moukoko
In our view, this was the last chance Arsenal and Tottenham had to sign Moukoko before his valuation soars.
The 18-year-old is already making senior football look easy after remarkably scoring 142 goals in just 90 appearances across the Borussia Dortmund youth ranks.
In our view, Moukoko is a future Ballon d’Or winner, and Borussia Dortmund will surely be over the moon to have secured his signature for the next three years.
In that space of time, we fully expect the German to make Arsenal and Tottenham regret missing out on his services – even Erling Haaland has said that the wonderkid is better than he was at that age.
