Incoming Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Lucas Bergvall has opened up about his time in Sweden ahead of his move to North London.

Tottenham Hotspur are set to be in for a busy summer transfer window and the club have already begun their window of spending after the addition of promising Djurgarden midfielder Lucas Bergvall.

In February, HITC reported that the battle was on between Tottenham and Spanish giants Barcelona for Bergvall but the Premier League club matched the offer made by the Spanish club but the 18-year-old chose North London.

The exciting young midfielder has a huge future ahead of him after breaking through at Swedish club Djurgarden over the past year and he looks set to be a key star for Spurs.

Bergvall opens up on ‘depressing’ move

As the transfer of the Swedish midfielders nears, the 18-year-old has had to say goodbye to his current club as he braces himself for a move to the Premier League.

Saying goodbye to the club he has been at for just over a year does not sound like a difficult prospect but it is proving to be tough for the teenger.

“It will be special,” he said regarding his move to England to Swedish outlet Fotbol Direkt.

“It feels depressing of course (to move away from Djurgarden). I enjoy myself here, so it feels really sad to leave everyone here, but I hope to come back at some point.

“You start to realize that it is the last game here now for hopefully maybe 17 years. That is the plan. It is. I want to finish here, but then you don’t know if you will get injured or finish abroad. But yeah, that’s the plan.

“Djurgården has meant an incredible amount to me and has been a big part of my life. So yes, the club has meant a lot.”

Spurs getting one of the best teenagers in Europe

Bergvall was certainly a popular player with a plethora of clubs watching how the teenager developed before Barcelona and Spurs made their move.

Back in February, the midfielder spoke out about the move and looked to be excited: “It’s always been my dream to play in the Premier League, the best league in the world.

“It feels like the beginning of an era here at Tottenham. There’s a great coach, Ange. It’s a great club, a great manager with a hungry and young team playing really good football”.

Spurs have a quality player on their hands and it appears the Swede is equally as excited about playing in England and indeed for Ange Postecoglou.
