- EXCLUSIVE from Graeme Bailey
Barcelona are confident that they will win the race to sign Swedish starlet Lucas Bergvall, sources have confirmed to HITC Football.
There looks set to be a mad dash for Djurgarden midfielder Lucas Bergvall with the 17-year-old Swedish star already attracting the attention from some of the biggest clubs in the world.
Despite there being interest from Arsenal and Bayern Munich in the Swedish midfielder, who has already made his debut for his national side, HITC Football understands the Spanish giants have held talks with Djurgarden over Bergvall and are now ready to strike a deal.
Bergvall is a talented midfielder and has only played 29 senior games for the Swedish side and has scored three goals and provided one assist for the Allsvenskan club.

Djurgarden’s demand
It is understood that Djugarden wants €15million (£12.8 million) for the teenager and Barcelona are happy to part with that amount of money to sign the Swedish midfielder. The deal represents a huge, quick profit for Djurgarden, as they only signed Bergvall in December 2022 for £500,000 and could potentially see that investment increase massively.
The Spanish giants are understood to be keen on pressing home a deal as they are fearful of interest from German rivals Bayern, who, it is believed, have emerged as the biggest rivals for Bergvall.
Another side who have got in contact with the Swedish midfielder is Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal but it is understood that the 17-year-old has made it clear that his preference would be a move to the Camp Nou.
Bergvall’s future
If a move to Barcelona is completed in this January transfer window, HITC Football also understands that the teenager would remain in Sweden for the remainder of the season before joining his new club in the summer.
With Gavi and Pedri, Barcelona already have a superb spine in the middle of the park and adding the talented teenager in Bergvall to this list could be another great move.
It certainly looks as if the Spanish giants are the firm favourites to land the 17-year-old.
