After Tottenham booked their place in the Champions League knockout stages, Chelsea did the same with a 2-1 win over Dinamo Zagreb last night.
Goals from Raheem Sterling and Denis Zakaria handed the Blues all three points, although there was bad news for Ben Chilwell, who limped off with a hamstring injury just weeks before the World Cup.
Now, while we certainly wouldn’t want to portray that as a positive, it may have Ryan Sessegnon at Tottenham feeling as if a huge opportunity is on the horizon.
Sessegnon could make World Cup squad after Tottenham heroics
Well, the £25m man has never actually been capped for England, although he has made his way into Antonio Conte’s good books at the perfect time.
The 22-year-old has scored two goals in 11 Premier League appearances so far this season, lining up in a left wing-back position under the Italian at Tottenham.

Crucially, Conte uses a similar system to Gareth Southgate, so the Three Lions boss may be tempted to play Sessegnon regularly in Qatar if Chilwell cannot recover in time.
Of course, Southgate also has the likes of Luke Shaw and Tyrick Mitchell to call upon, as well as Kieran Trippier who he often uses on the left, although none of those names have been operating as wing-backs domestically.
Sessegnon is fully fit, playing well for a leading side across Europe, and with Chilwell now rushing to be fit for the World Cup, the Tottenham No.19 has a golden chance to earn a spot on the plane.
Sessegnon must shine for Tottenham
Sessegnon has three games before the break for the World Cup begins, with Spurs set to face Liverpool and Leeds in Premier League action, as well as Nottingham Forest in the Carabao Cup.
As things stand, he already has a strong chance of making the squad, but the England Under-21 international can make himself a certainty for a spot on the plane with three outstanding performances in those outings.
Hopefully, Sessegnon doesn’t suffer the same fate as Chilwell in these upcoming games, or Southgate will have a real headache on his hands in regards to the left-back situation.
