Darren Bent wants West Ham United midfielder Declan Rice to secure a summer transfer to Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal over German giants, Bayern Munich.

The England international is a player very much sought-after ahead of the transfer window re-opening in July, with Bayern Munich putting their foot down on the accelerator to sign the 24-year-old West Ham star.

Whilst some play down the Bundesliga and its quality, Bent thinks it would still be a top move for a player like Declan Rice, but he wants the hard-hitting midfielder at Arsenal instead, as he told talkSPORT Drive (30/05/23 at 4:20 pm).

It has been previously suggested that Arsenal think the £80 million star wants to join them, despite missing out on the Premier League title this term, Champions League football will be back in north London.

The issue for the Gunners is that they aren’t going to be the only ones gunning for his signature because it has now been reported that Bayern Munich want him to move to Germany – Thomas Tuchel has spoken to him over the phone.

A certain Jude Bellingham has shone brightly in the Bundesliga during these past few years, so Rice can certainly follow suit, in that regard, as Bent alluded to.

“There is this premise that if you are a top player in this country or you are abroad and you are an Englishman, then you have to play in the Premier League,” said Bent. “Why? I don’t understand.

“If you are going to Bayern Munich, one of the biggest clubs in the world. Look at their history when it comes to world football. They are one of the giants.

“Look at someone like Robert Lewandowski, he has won that many Bundesliga’s, people don’t poo-poo his achievements. If Declan went to Bayern, I hope he doesn’t and he signs for Arsenal.

“I’m going to say Arsenal (is his best move). If it’s not Arsenal, then go to Bayern Munich.”

DECLAN RICE IS ‘A PLAYER PEP GUARDIOLA LOVES’

Rice has a massive chance to end his West Ham career by winning a trophy – David Moyes’ side will face-off against Fiorentina in the Europa Conference League final next week.

It would be the perfect exit for a player that ‘Pep Guardiola loves’ and cement the Englishman’s legacy at the London Stadium.

Of course, the Hammers faithful would still prefer for their star midfielder to move abroad because it would be difficult for them to watch him play for another Premier League club, especially one of their London rivals.
