A claim has been made that Bayern Munich boss Thomas Tuchel had a direct chat with Arsenal-linked midfielder Declan Rice over a transfer.

This revelation has been made by Sky Germany journalist Florian Plettenburg, just four days after it was reported that the Gunners were just £10 million off his asking price.

While the same report mentioned that currently, Arsenal were ready to pay a record-fee to sign Declan Rice, Bayern Munich and Thomas Tuchel may have a plan of their up their sleeves.

The 24-year-old has been speculated to come in and replace Granit Xhaka, who looks likely to join Bayer Leverkusen in the summer.

While West Ham United escaped relegation, they have had a nightmare of a season but a potential Europa Conference League victory seems to be the final send-off for a club legend.

The stars may have aligned towards a transfer to Arsenal but it has been reported that ‘there was a phone call’ between Thomas Tuchel and Declan Rice over a move to Bayern.

In addition, it was claimed that the England international is open to joining the newly-crowned Bundesliga champions as well as working alongside the ex-Chelsea boss.

Now, the German juggernaut are set to ‘intensify’ their efforts to sign him.

Bad news for Arsenal

As brilliant as Arsenal performed to finish runners-up in the Premier League, Bayern Munich and Thomas Tuchel have an obvious advantage in the pursuit to sign Declan Rice.

For starters, the club themselves are not only virtually guaranteed to win the league but tend to go far in Europe, as opposed to Mikel Arteta’s side, who are likely not to win either next season.

Speaking of Arteta, as excellent as he is, Tuchel is a proven winner, especially having reached back-to-back Champions League finals and having won it at Chelsea, which may sway Rice towards a move abroad.
