Liverpool left it late, but they put on a show in Arne Slot’s first game in charge as manager after the departure of Jurgen Klopp.
Many are unsure as to how Liverpool will perform this term and many bold predictions have been made.
Gary Neville thinks Liverpool won’t secure Champions League football, although, they have got off to the perfect start after their opening weekend win over newly-promoted Ipswich Town.
Many players shone in that game for the Reds, including goalscorer Diogo Jota and Mohamed Salah, as well as right-back, Trent Alexander-Arnold.
In the first half, Ipswich were certainly in the game and they thought they were in a fight to get something from the match.
But then, the Reds turned the screws, played far quicker and hurt their opponents like never before, and in truth, they probably should have scored more.
Gary Neville touched upon Liverpool’s play, especially down the right-hand side and the problems they caused left-back, Leif Davis.
The Manchester United legend labelled it ‘world-class’ and shared that he spoke to Sky Sports producers about Salah and Alexander-Arnold.
The duo were made and thrived under the legendary Klopp, and as Neville did with David Beckham for many years, they hurt and destroyed many opponents.
But the number of games they have played together for Liverpool was discussed with the Sky producers of Monday Night Football, as Neville told Sky Sports.
Trent Alexander-Arnold and Mohamed Salah partnership
“All of a sudden, you find out that quality, it just came down that right-hand side with Trent Alexander-Arnold and Salah, I felt,” said Neville.
“The boy at left-back (for Ipswich), Leif Davis, he found out about the Premier League. But you are playing against, I was saying to some of the Sky producers from Monday Night Football earlier on today, about the amount of times that Salah and Trent Alexander-Arnold have played together now, over hundreds of games it must be.
“The amount of success they have had down on that right-hand side, attacking with Trent’s passing and Salah’s movement and you just saw some real quality in the last goal, where obviously, he played it inside him. It’s just something you have to face. You are going to face teams that don’t have to be at their best, but can deliver in moments and can deliver world-class moments through world-class players and that’s what Ipswich found. Liverpool were better in the second half.”

Trent Alexander-Arnold and Mohamed Salah contacts
Alexander-Arnold has interest from Real Madrid and Saudi Arabia have been long linked with Salah, so could the duo be out of the door in 12 months?
Their contracts are certainly up and you wonder what is at play here. For the work they have done over the years, they probably get into Liverpool’s greatest-ever XI. That’s how incredible they have been.

But Liverpool either extend their contracts or bring in replacements – Slot is yet to sign any new players.
Martin Zubimendi has rejected the chance to join Liverpool, with the midfield area, the important area of the pitch that needs to be covered.
