Fabrizio Romano has taken to Twitter to reveal that Juventus are closing in on a deal to sign Tottenham target Gleison Bremer.

What’s the story?

Well, this is bad news for Spurs fans, as well as Antonio Conte and Fabio Paratici.

It was said that Tottenham had been scouting the Brazilian defender, who was named Best Defender in Serie A last season after starring in 33 appearances for Torino.

However, the north Londoners now look set to miss out on Bremer, as Juventus close in on his signature.

Romano believes Juventus have agreed a €40m (£34m) fee with Torino, not including add-ons, and have now offered the towering centre-back a five-year contract.

The Italian giants have put a deal worth €5m-a-season (£4m) on the table for Bremer, and Romano adds that the defender is expected to accept the proposal.

The news will also come as a blow to Arsenal, after the Gunners held talks to sign the 25-year-old.

Tottenham have alternatives to Gleison Bremer

In our view, it will be interesting to see what Paratici does after Bremer officially joins Juventus.

It has been said that Spurs have also shortlisted Inter Milan defender Alessandro Bastoni, who helped Conte win the Serie A title back in 2021.

Tottenham are also eyeing Sevilla centre-back Jules Kounde, although they appear to have lost out to Barcelona in that particular transfer battle – the Frenchman has agreed a four-year contract at the Camp Nou.

There remains some interest in Pau Torres, who rejected a move to Spurs last summer in favour of staying with Villarreal, although the north Londoners face competition from Manchester City.

Paratici has already signed Clement Lenglet, although with doubts over the futures of Joe Rodon and Japhet Tanganga, it seems another defender could soon follow Djed Spence to N17.

Having said that, it seems Tottenham will have to cross Bremer off their list, as the hunt continues.
