One former Liverpool player admits he would have remained at Anfield had Jurgen Klopp decided to stay at the club this summer.
After nine successful years at Liverpool, Jurgen Klopp made the decision towards the end of last season to step down from his post as manager of the Reds.
In came Feyenoord manager Arne Slot, despite Liverpool holding talks with Sporting Lisbon manager Ruben Amorim, the Dutchman was the main chosen to fill the big boots left by the charismatic German.
Big changes are expected at Anfield this summer with the club hoping to make key additions to allow the Dutchman to build the club in his image.

Adrian reveals he would have stayed at club had Klopp remained
Liverpool’s third choice goalkeeper Adrian has explained that he would have stayed at Anfield had Klopp remained at the club for another season.
Adrian has been speaking to Spanish outlet Cadena SER about his return to Real Betis, which is the club that he began his career at.
He started his career with Betis and moved up their various youth ranks before moving to West Ham on a free transfer in 2013.
Adrian spent six years at the Hammers before moving to Liverpool as a backup goalkeeper, which is where has been ever since.
“It is true that the option (joining Betis) becomes stronger at the end of the season when we talk more seriously,” Adrian said.
“Liverpool offered me to extend the contract and that’s where it started the dilemma. I was very attracted to Betis. It was the best option for me and for my sporting career.”
Asked whether things would have been different had the manager stayed, he said: “With Klopp? If I tell you the truth, everything would have been a little complicated.
“I had a very good relationship with Jürgen and with all the staff. We had a very good group. The Betis option is always there and when the train passes through there, you have to catch it.”
Adrian made a good impact on his debut for Liverpool as he performed heroics during a Super Cup victory over Chelsea back in 2019.
Jurgen Klopp said to The Guardian of the Spaniard: When I first spoke to him (about signing) it was clear we needed to get him fit but then we had to put him straight in.
“He put in an incredible performance.”
Arne Slot’s big summer transfer window as Klopp replacement
Slot will certainly have big shoes to fill but he has so far not been helped by the club in terms of transfer business.
Things have so far been very quiet at Anfield for fans of Liverpool with the Reds prioritising the extensions of Trent Alexander-Arnold and Virgil Van Dijk.
Alexander Arnold has been linked with a move to Real Madrid but Liverpool are keen to get the right-back down on a new long-term deal.
As for incomings, Liverpool have been in talks with the representatives of Crysencio Summerville and Lutsharel Geertruida but Paris Saint-Germain are understood to be leading the race.
