HITC understands that Liverpool have held talks with the agents of two exciting Dutch players to add to their squad this summer.
Arne Slot’s Liverpool have been very quiet in the summer transfer window with the former Feyenoord manager keen on assessing his squad during pre-season before making any decision on signings.
HITC has already reported that a midfield addition is unlikely with the club keen to assess how well Stefan Bajcetic could perform following his injury.
Liverpool are understood to want to bolster their defence and forward options this summer and are working on prospective targets with two names under consideration.
Liverpool keen on two Dutch additions including Leeds star
Sources have told HITC that Liverpool have held talks with the agents of Dutch duo Lutsharel Geertruida and Crysencio Summerville.
23-year-old Feyenoord defender Geertruida was a key man for Slot during the Dutchman’s time in Feyenoord but sources have told HITC that the Reds were already on the trail of the defender before the 45-year-old’s arrival.
Now with Slot at the helm, this is a deal that is understood to be firmly on Liverpool’s radar as the club hope to improve their defensive options this summer.
Talks have taken place with Geertruida’s entourage – but he is not the only Dutchman who has come up in talks as he shares the same agency as Leeds United winger Summerville, who is wanted by a number of clubs this summer.
French giants ahead of the queue for Dutch duo
Despite holding talks with the Reds, HITC understands that there is interest from across Europe for the Dutch pair.
Similar talks are understood to have taken place with French giants Paris Saint-Germain, as well as Liverpool’s Premier League rivals Arsenal, Newcastle United and West Ham United in recent weeks.
HITC has been told that the French giants, who are looking to replace Kylian Mbappe, are the most advanced to get this double deal over the line this summer.
Summerville is expected to depart Elland Road this summer and has also been the subject of interest from Brighton & Hove Albion and Crystal Palace.
Back in October, after a 3-2 victory over Norwich City, Leeds boss Daniel Farke was very complimentary of the Dutchman when he said: “His reaction, not just in possession, because he’s an outstanding creative player, we know this, but also how hard he worked for the team. This is exactly what we need and many compliments to him.”
Leeds missed out on an immediate return to the Premier League following a play-off final defeat to Southampton.
The Whites have already sold teenage midfielder Archie Gray to Tottenham Hotspur this summer with Ange Postecoglou said to have played a key role in convincing the midfielder to depart Elland Road.
