Everton and Newcastle United could now miss out on the signing of Chelsea midfielder Conor Gallagher following an injury update on N’Golo Kante, who was injured against Tottenham this weekend.

According to the Sun, the France international is set to spend the next few weeks out on the treatment table after the two-time Premier League champions suffered a hamstring injury in a feisty London derby, with Gallagher coming on as Kante’s replacement in the final minutes of the fixture.

This injury update could not have come at a worse time for Everton and Newcastle, with both sides recently linked with a move for Gallagher, with Chelsea reportedly valuing the Cobham academy graduate at £50m, however, this blow to Kante could now ruin any plans that Frank Lampard or Eddie Howe have for the England international.

Whilst Kante’s injury was far from the biggest incident of the match, the midfielder missing the next few weeks of action is set to have huge repercussions in both the transfer market and in how Chelsea set-up in their upcoming fixtures, with Gallagher now in a good position to start for the Blues against Leeds United next weekend.

The former Crystal Palace loanee has only played sporadically for the Blues since returning to west London this summer, but following this injury update to N’Golo Kante and midfielder Mateo Kovacic also out for some time, the 21-year-old could make a claim for himself in the Chelsea squad, much to the dismay of Everton and Newcastle.

Indeed, Gallagher would have been a perfect signing for virtually every Premier League club this summer, but with Chelsea now light in central midfield, Thomas Tuchel could finally be ready to unleash the Blues youngster into the big leagues, leaving Everton and Newcastle in the dust over the England star.

Kante’s injury update kills any hope clubs have in signing Chelsea talent Gallagher

Chelsea’s clash against Tottenham was full of drama, excitement and controversy, yet losing Kante might be the biggest blow of them all from the fixture, and for many clubs like Everton and Newcastle, the injury to the midfielder will seemingly kill any hope of the Blues selling Gallagher this summer.

After all, the west London side could easily turn to the Three Lions international as a short-term replacement for Kante, and for Gallagher, the chance to start for his boyhood club will be too good to pass up despite strong interest across the Premier League for his services.
