Sources have told HITC that talks are ongoing with West Ham United and Paris Saint-Germain over a loan deal for midfielder Carlos Soler.
The powers that be at West Ham United have backed their new coach Julen Lopetegui this summer after the departure of David Moyes.
From the get-go, West Ham signed Max Kilman from Wolves and he started his side’s opening-day defeat to Aston Villa – Ian Wright says Kudus was the only one to shine for West Ham against Villa.
But many of the new faces were on the bench, so the Hammers faithful will have to wait to see how this new crop of players really gel together.
Sources have told HITC that West Ham and PSG are talking about the obligation and the triggers involved in the Soler deal.
The 27-year-old moved to Paris in 2022 from Valencia and was an unused substitute for his side’s opening win of the season at Le Havre.
We understand Lopetegui asked for another midfielder before the end of the window, despite the business they have already done – Soler has been compared to Martin Odegaard.
The West Ham fans should be excited by this possible deal because he is someone who is ‘technically very good’, as analysed by Kevin Hatchard.
The European football expert added that Soler is better off playing further forward, although, he is ‘versatile’ and can play deeper if needed, as he told Transfer Talk on Sky Sports.
Carlos Soler’s qualities
“He is somebody I could see Julen Lopetegui liking very much,” said Hatchard. “He is a really neat and tidy midfielder. Technically very good.
“He can be versatile as well. He can play deeper in midfield, but I don’t think that’s where you get the best out of him necessarily. I think when the reigns are off and he can really go for it and drive forward. That’s when the comes alive. He can play a little wider as well. I can see why Lopetegui could be interested in him.”

West Ham United’s summer transfer window
By the time the window slams shut, West Ham can argue that they probably have had the best window out of anyone else.
They are still going and backing their manager, but what’s also important is that they have kept their key players.

Jarrod Bowen has been appointed West Ham’s new captain after Newcastle’s transfer interest, so that’s big news.
Now it’s a case of bringing it all together and patience will be needed in that regard because fans also want a change in style.
