Any Mexico fans hoping to disrupt the England players ahead of their World Cup last 16 clash might be in for some bad luck.

While England are favourites to win the game at the Estadio Azteca, there’s little doubt they are walking into the lion’s den.

😬 After underwhelming AGAIN, which player left at home are England SCREAMING out for?

There are plenty of stars to choose from…

As ever, Mexico has World Cup fever and the capital will be in a party spirit before their team host the Three Lions in the last 16.

Having seen what happened to the Ecuador players before their last 32 clash in the Mexican capital, however, it appears as if England are being cautious.

England team hotel to have roadblocks set up around it

Ecuador’s stay at a hotel in Mexico City was interrupted by eager supporters letting off fireworks, singing chants and revving car engines outside it deep into the night.

According to The Athletic, England will not be taking any chances.

Indeed, their team hotel is expected to have roadblocks set up around it to combat any potential issues as the two go head-to-head for a place in the World Cup quarter-finals.

FIFA sources reportedly suggest that such decisions will be taken on a case-by-case basis.

England are set to travel to Mexico on Friday, two days before their game in the capital of the country.

The Three Lions have generally travelled to their destination the day before a game but they have decided to travel ahead of time because of the conditions.

Indeed, Mexico vs England will be played at an altitude of 2,240 metres (7,350 feet), so Thomas Tuchel’s side must take a different approach to prepare.

England are favourites for the game on paper but the altitude is a clear advantage for their hosts, who boast a brilliant record at home.

They have also won all of their games in the tournament thus far, so England are certainly in for a huge test.
