Mexican supporters are feeling confident ahead of their Round of 16 match against England at the Estadio Azteca.

Mexico comfortably beat Ecuador 2-0 in the last round, whereas England narrowly escaped defeat against DR Congo.

The Three Lions have not been in fine form, and they will have to contend with extreme heat and altitude in Mexico City.

However, they will still be expected to beat Mexico on Sunday night, as they have significantly more quality.

Mexico fans are confident about facing England at Estadio Azteca

The Mexican fans are not interested in England’s superstars, such as Harry Kane and Jude Bellingham.

They believe home advantage will be the difference at the Estadio Azteca, with England exiting the competition.

One supporter even suggested England will start the game one goal down because they will not handle the environment.

“England are going to lose to Mexico. The altitude here is very high,” he told talkSPORT.

“And here in Mexico, we say the Azteca makes the first one. The public scores the first goal, so we’re already 1-0 up.”

Another fan gave England more respect, although he still expects Mexico to advance to the quarter-finals.

“We’re going to beat them, no matter what. If they get here, we’re going to beat them. Sorry about that,” he added.

“They have a great team, great players, but they need to get here and acclimatise to the altitude and get to the level of our players.”

A third Mexican fan tipped Bellingham to struggle at the Estadio Azteca, as England have no answer for Javier Aguirre’s side.

“They don’t really win in stadiums like this. This is our home. This is where we feel comfortable,” he said.

“I’m sure we’re going to win against England. Bellingham, you’re going to do nothing. This World Cup is for Mexico.”
