Neal Maupay has probably annoyed more people than he has scored goals during the recently concluded season.

Tottenham and James Maddison know a thing or two about that. And so do Chelsea.

Back in October, Neal Maupay, who was on loan at Brentford from Everton, got booked before entering the field during his side’s 2-0 win at Stamford Bridge.

Chelsea had a free-kick in the final third and near the touchline. Cole Palmer was stepping up to take it when Maupay decided to wind the crowd up.

The 27-year-old proceeded to enter the pitch whilst jogging on the sidelines, with the Brentford and Chelsea players warming up in the same area.

As he jogged past the ball, he kicked it away to the annoyance of the home fans, as well as Palmer.

That was brought up during an interview Maupay did with talkSPORT and he tried to justify his actions that left Chelsea fan and pundit Rory Jennings baffled.

The Frenchman claimed that the warm-up area at the Bridge is ‘too tight’ and he has ‘wide feet’, so he couldn’t do anything about it.

Whilst Maupay got away with annoying Tottenham fans and Maddison, it’s fair to say that it’s not working with Chelsea, as he has proven to be the ultimate troll in the Premier League.

“That was a wind-up,” screamed Rory Jennings, but Maupay responded: “Listen, listen. This one is because Stamford Bridge, the warm-up area it’s too tight. It’s too tight.”

Jennings then interrupted: “You aren’t seriously trying to justify this on geographical grounds.”

Maupay then added: “It’s too tight. It’s too tight, I am sorry. I have got wide feet and, I don’t know, the outside of my foot just touches the ball. I didn’t mean to.”

Neal Maupay next season

Unless he makes a move, or even heads outside of the Premier League, it seems as though Maupay will don the Everton colours for the 2024/25 campaign.

But from Tottenham to Chelsea, he has made many enemies now and their fans will let him know about it.

Maupay only scored six Premier League goals and if he is to back up his talk, then he has to start delivering on the field of play.

Or else, he better get ready because many are now going to be waiting to dish it out on him.
