Genoa coach Alberto Gilardino admits he is worried about Radu Dragusin’s potential departure with Premier League giants Tottenham Hotspur looking to tie up a deal for the Serie A centre-back.

HITC Football understands that Tottenham are still moving forward in discussions over Radu Dragusin, with a January deal worth around £25 million very much on the cards.

Spurs boss Ange Postecoglou has made no secret of his desire for defensive reinforcements this month. Especially after the injuries suffered by both Cristian Romero and Micky van de Ven.

HITC has been informed that terms have already been agreed in principle with Dragusin’s camp, and the ponytailed powerhouse is open to a fresh start in London.

As far as Gilardino is concerned, however, Genoa could do without losing their star performer midway through the campaign. There are only six points separating Il Grifone from the Serie A relegation zone, after all.

“Of course, rumours and some situations are never good,” Gilardino, a World Cup winner with Italy and a Champions League winner with AC Milan, tells Football Italia

“Especially at this moment, while the season is ongoing.

“I trust my players because I see them train every day. I know them and they are great professionals. I’m sure they will give their all as long as they stay here with great dignity and determination. I am convinced about it.

“Obviously, I hope nobody leaves. That is natural. But the market is so changeable that anything can happen.”

Dragusin, a giant of a centre-half who’s aerial presence and passing range has drawn comparisons with Virgil van Dijk, has also been the subject of interest from Arsenal and Newcastle United, according to agent Florin Manea.

Manea also confirmed that Tottenham sent scouts to watch the one-time Juventus starlet during Genoa’s December clash with his old employers.

“There is a lot of interest. I had a discussion with Tottenham. They told me they were interested in him,” the outspoken agent told Digi Sport a few weeks back.

“There are a few more clubs from Germany, a few from the Premier League. I believe that if something is achieved, it will be in the Premier League.”
