Tottenham Hotspur appear to have paused their pursuit of £25 million-rated Genoa defender Radu Dragusin with the Premier League giants also opening talks with Nice for Jean-Clair Todibo.
Ahead of the January transfer window, Tottenham Hotspur appear determined to avoid placing all their eggs in one single basket.
While sending scouts to watch Radu Dragusin during Genoa’s Serie A clash with Juventus this time last week, they have also opened up a dialogue with Nice over a deal that could see France international Jean-Clair Todibo move to North London during the winter window.
Florin Manea, who has been more than forthcoming when discussing the interest of Spurs, Arsenal and Newcastle United in his highly-rated client, explains that – as things stand – Tottenham are yet to take their pursuit of Dragusin any further.

“I spoke a few days before the Juventus match with Tottenham,” Manea tells Fanatik. “They took information about Radu, about his character. But it stopped there. They will let us know if they want to continue or not. And there are several clubs calling, not only Tottenham.
“Just as we have to think very carefully about our next move, no one is rushing us. I know that if Tottenham will contact us, that they want to make the transfer.”
According to Fabrizio Romano on X, Tottenham are keen on Todibo too. Given that both are right-footers, it seems that it will be Todibo or Dragusin, rather than Todibo and Dragusin. The prospect of Tottenham signing two defenders in January cannot be ruled out, though if a right-footer arrives you can expect him to be followed by a southpaw such as a Lloyd Kelly or Koki Machida.
Fulham contract rebel Tosin Adarabioyo is another option.
In the absence of Micky van de Ven – who is still nowhere near a return from injury – Ben Davies has stepped up admirably in the centre. Postecoglou, however, still wants a defender as a priority in the New Year.

“Ben’s still adapting to it. He’s done remarkably well,” the former Celtic boss tells ESPN. “Centre-back is still a position where, especially in our structure, it is one of the few positions where you need guys with outstanding attributes in there.
“Having (Cristian) Romero next to him helps in that sense, and Vic (goalkeeper Guglielmo Vicario).
“Ultimately, we still need to sign another centre-back because, at the moment, we are a little bit on tenterhooks.”
