Pundit Barry Ferguson has said that if Newcastle United target Kieran Tierney is sold by Arsenal this summer, any club that ends up signing him would have made a bargain transfer.

The Scottish international, described as ‘outstanding’ by Bacary Sagna was acknowledged as a player that could leave Mikel Arteta’s side next season by Fabrizio Romano recently.

While some would propose that Newcastle United could aim higher than signing a player like Kieran Tierney, once described as the ‘modern full-back’ by Alan Shearer on the Premier League’s official website, pundit Barry Ferguson strongly feels that the Arsenal left-back would be a stellar transfer for any side.

The 25-year-old has been relegated to the status of a mere squad player, starting just four Premier League games since Oleksandr Zinchenko’s arrival.

As a result, it comes as no surprise that reports have suggested that the former Celtic defender is eager to leave the Emirates Stadium for a fresh start, with a switch to St. James’ Park touted as a potential destination.

Well, if Kieran Tierney fancies a move to Newcastle, pundit Barry Ferguson would certainly be a fan of the transfer, as he rates the Arsenal full-back extremely highly.

“I don’t know him personally but judging him by watching him and listening to him, come the summer, I don’t think he’ll be at Arsenal. And if I’m a top six English Premier League team, I’d be in for him in a heartbeat.”

“If he becomes available, and for the price they’re talking about as well, at £30 million, if you look at some of the full-backs that have moved in England for double that, I think it’s an absolute snip”, he said on Go Radio.

Considering the quality and wealth of experience Kieran Tierney would bring to Newcastle from Arsenal if a transfer went through, it is hard to disagree with pundit Barry Ferguson in this instance.
