Fabrizio Romano has tipped Arsenal defender Kieran Tierney to leave the club in the summer amid growing reports that the Scottish international is ready to depart north London.

Writing for CaughtOffside, the transfer guru revealed that there’s a chance that the 25-year-old left-back will leave Arsenal in the upcoming transfer window, with Tierney losing his spot in the starting XI to Oleksandr Zinchenko as well as being overlooked in some matches by Mikel Arteta.

With Takehiro Tomiyasu often coming on to play left-back in the closing stages of games, it makes sense why rumours are now circulating that Tierney could leave Arsenal in the summer, with the £25m defender already attracting interest from the likes of Newcastle United.

The Chronicle recently reported that the former Celtic star is actually keen on a move to St. James Park, and with the Times claiming that a left-back is on Arsenal’s transfer list for the summer, it would make sense for Tierney to leave north London despite his status amongst supporters.

Tierney was once viewed as a potential club captain for Arsenal having shone in his first few years at the club, with his attitude on the training pitch and in matches something that resonated with fans. However, it now appears that the Scotsman will be departing the club.

Indeed, with Arsenal in a position where they could actually make a profit from Tierney, Arteta knows the decision to let the defender leave will be one that will be met with raised eyebrows from some sections of the fanbase. However, a big offer from Newcastle could offset these concerns.

Arsenal should let Tierney leave if the money is right this summer

Tierney has been a fan favourite at the Emirates ever since the defender arrived at the club in 2019, and whilst injuries have played a part in the fullback’s lack of minutes over the last few seasons, a move could be for the best if the money is right.

With a contract that expires in 2026, Arsenal are in a strong position to demand a good transfer fee for the defender, and with Newcastle seemingly the club most interested in Tierney, a good amount of money could actually be made if the Scotsman is sold in the summer.
