Rio Ferdinand has said that Liverpool will not quality for Champions League football next season after their 1-0 defeat to Bournemouth.

Off the back of demolishing Manchester United 7-0 just over a week ago, it was expected that Jurgen Klopp’s side would return to their usual ruthless selves against Gary O’Neil’s men. While Newcastle United goalscorer Callum Wilson also expected them to do so, Steve McManaman pointed out how the win was a ‘false dawn.’

After Liverpool suffered yet another roadblock in their attempts to get into the top 4 after their defeat to Bournemouth, Rio Ferdinand predicted that Liverpool will not get into the Champions League.

Rio Ferdinand says Liverpool will not qualify for the Champions League

Succumbing to their 12th defeat of the campaign, the Reds are languishing in 6th place, sitting 6 points behind 4th placed Tottenham Hotspur.

While breaking down yet another shocking result for Liverpool, Rio Ferdinand admitted that their chances of qualifying for the Champions League are done and dusted on the FIVE YouTube channel.

When quizzed again, he instantly replied saying, “Nah.”

Rio Ferdinand could be proven right

Considering the Merseyside-based club failed to capitalise on the best possible confidence boost against United by reverting to type once again this season, it’s difficult to see how they get the job done.

While Rio Ferdinand has confidently claimed that Liverpool will not make the grade for the Champions League, it has taken 26 games for many to realise that as the side have been getting the benefit of the doubt due to the heights they have hit in recent years.

Ultimately, as Jurgen Klopp and Co. were handed yet another bitter pill to swallow on Saturday, it was proof that both tactically and in terms of personnel, they have improvements to make and individual results cannot mask that reality.
