Callum Wilson has taken back his previous comments about questioning whether Liverpool were back to their best after they beat Newcastle United at St. James’ Park, off the back of their 7-0 walloping of Manchester United.
The England international was skeptical about whether Jurgen Klopp’s side had returned to peak form once again, with his rationale being that it was too early to say that after their 2 successive wins against his side and Everton. Furthermore, the 30-year-old said that considering how poor the Magpies were, the result papers over their cracks.
However, after Liverpool tore Manchester United to pieces in their record-breaking 7-0 victory on Sunday, Callum Wilson decided to take back his recent comments.
Callum Wilson apologises to Liverpool after Manchester United win
The Reds silenced their detractors as while Erik ten Hag’s side were undeniably shocking on the day, the hosts pounced at their weaknesses in rare fashion.
Callum Wilson seemingly realised that and apologised to Liverpool while reflecting on their demolition job of Manchester United on the Footballers’ Football Podcast, “I apologise also for saying that Liverpool weren’t back. They’re back with a bang! I think the way things are going for me, anything I do, the universe brings the opposite.”
“The thing is as well with Liverpool, this season, they’ve won 9-0 as well [against Bournemouth] I believe. So, they have got that in the locker. It’s just in between, I guess because they obviously went on a dip after that but they’re well and truly back now.”

“To do that to [Manchester] United is a statement of intent really and it’s show the rest of the league and the rest of the people in and around them in the league that they’re coming up the table and trying to get themselves into the Europe spots.”
Credit to Callum Wilson for admitting that he was in the wrong and acknowledging the class shown by Liverpool as they made a mockery of Manchester United at Anfield.
