Steve McManaman has said that Liverpool had a false dawn after their 7-0 win against Manchester United during their 1-0 defeat to Bournemouth.
Newcastle United striker Callum Wilson said that Jurgen Klopp’s side proved that they were back to their best after taking Erik ten Hag’s side apart after a historic result on Sunday,
But Steve McManaman has blasted Liverpool for their inconsistency after they suffered yet another blip against Bournemouth off the back of their incredible victory against Manchester United.
Steve McManaman blasts Liverpool after Bournemouth defeat off the back of Manchester United result
It’s fair to state this considering the Reds were rightly expected to kick on after beating their biggest rivals in emphatic fashion, with the likes of Jordan Henderson, Mohamed Salah and Fabinho looking like their usual selves.
However, during the game, Steve McManaman slated Liverpool for returning to their poor selves this season against Manchester United after taking Manchester United apart.

“I think last week was a false dawn for Liverpool given the way they’ve played in that first 45 minutes. They need to liven up, I’ve been really unimpressed by them in the first half”, he said, as quoted by BBC Sport.
McManaman is absolutely bang on
While there is no questioning that the Merseyside-based club showcased their class against United last weekend, it is ultimately just 3 points and such a result should have been used by them as a platform for bigger and better things.
Instead, as Steve McManaman says, Liverpool proved that they are nowhere near their best against Bournemouth and in some ways, their win against Manchester United was a freak result and not much else.
This is a damning indictment of where Jurgen Klopp ad Co. are and it is certainly a worrying sign that could have a major impact on their summer business as well.
