Harry Redknapp says he noticed that Harry Kane looked gutted as he walked off the pitch after Tottenham Hotspur suffered a humiliating 1-0 defeat to Sheffield United as they exited the FA Cup.

The ‘unbelievable’ England captain has been linked with summer moves to Manchester United and Bayern Munich, as he is yet to win a single piece of silverware at Spurs. While it seemed like serial winner Antonio Conte’s appointment would finally break the trophy drought, that is yet to happen so far.

Now, Harry Redknapp says that upon realising that he may struggle to win any trophy at Tottenham after his side’s FA Cup defeat to Sheffield United, Harry Kane must have been down in the dumps.

While the ‘phenomenal’ goalscorer often gets lauded for how unnervingly consistent he has been over the years, the stick that is always used to beat him with is his lack of involvement in any tangible success.

Harry Redknapp says that this very reality may have dawned on Harry Kane after Tottenham succumbed to an FA Cup exit at the hands of Sheffield United.

“I looked at his face as he walked down last night and he was very, very low. He must’ve thought, ‘My God, what’s going on here?” He’s on the bench, he’s taking a gamble. I know, top 4 is important. But winning a trophy, they should’ve really gone for it last night.”

“Harry should be starting the game, surely. You want to go all the way in that competition but he looked very low last night and maybe he’s thinking to himself, ‘I ain’t going to lie, I’m never going to win a trophy here”, he said on talkSPORT.

One can only let time decide whether Harry Redknapp is spot on about Harry Kane, as if he pushes for an exit, a defeat to Sheffield United in the FA Cup may end up being the straw that broke the camel’s back when it comes to his chances of staying at Tottenham.
