Jermain Defoe has said that prime Harry Kane is better than prime Luis Suarez in a latest with Rio Ferdinand’s FIVE YouTube channel.

The £200,000-a-week striker, who broke Jimmy Greaves’ record as the all-time leading goalscorer for Tottenham Hotspur against Manchester City received plenty of praise from the likes of the man’s family himself, Gary Neville, Gary Lineker and Cristian Stellini.

While there is no denying that Harry Kane is one of the best strikers in Premier League history, Jermain Defoe has made a case for why his prime is better than that of Luis Suarez at Barcelona.

Jermain Defoe says prime Harry Kane is better than prime Luis Suarez

Jermain Defoe first decided his pick between the better prime between Harry Kane and Luis Suarez by simply answering, “Harry Kane.”

When host Joel Beya disagreed, Defoe replied, “But, do you know what? If there were say, 10 ex-players, I think it’d be 50-50. Forget all that Liverpool to Barcelona [with Luis Suarez], all that sorts of stuff. Just talking about them as players.”

“Both goalscorers, Harry’s [Kane] got more to his game [than Suarez]. Talk about Premier League, okay both of them are legends of the Premier League, no matter how many goals they have scored. You talk about major tournaments, go to a World Cup, bring home a Golden Boot. So, I think if you ask 10 players, it’s 50-50”, Defoe said when comparing the prime versions of Harry Kane and Luis Suarez.

When it was argued that Luis Suarez put himself on a different level at Barcelona, Defoe replied, “Okay, put Harry Kane in that Barcelona team. Take Suarez out of that Barcelona team. Does he score more goals?”

When told that they would score the same amount of goals, he said,

“Exactly! That’s what I’m saying, it’s tight!”

“But they’re both unbelievable. See Harry Kane, I could play with someone like Harry, because he’s got so much more to his game. If I played with Harry, he could drop into a 10 position”, Defoe said about Kane and Suarez in their absolute prime.

“Suarez isn’t able to do that. Harry has more to his game, man.”

Well, it’s safe to say that Jermain Defoe could get pelters for this take, as it is widely recognised that as brilliant as Harry Kane is and has been, prime Luis Suarez was a different animal.
