Tottenham Hotspur linked Lautaro Martinez has held positive talks over signing a new contract with Internazionale, according to Sky Italy.
What’s the story?
The Italian publication claims Inter offered wages of around €6m-per-year (£5m) to the 23-year-old.
Fabrizio Romano has also claimed a new deal is close for the South American.
The Argentine international has been touted as being a target for Spurs.
However, recent reports had suggested Tottenham were not confident of sealing a deal for the £65m-rated ace. It is thought Chelsea’s move for Romelu Lukaku has hampered a transfer for Martinez.
Meanwhile, Harry Kane is confident of sealing a move away before this weekend.
Spurs do have other alternatives, including Dusan Vlahovic, but he is reportedly attracting attention from Atletico Madrid and the Citizens.

Slowness in move for Martinez hampered Tottenham chances
The transfer market can be brutal.
There are plenty of circumstances where one deal can affect others. In this case, it was Spurs and their London rivals trying to sign teammates.
Chelsea moved quicker than their rivals in sealing a move for Lukaku, and now the north Londoners are paying the price.
It is hard to imagine Inter letting both their strikers from last season leave. A new contract for Martinez at Inter is a massive blow for Tottenham, especially in a market with few alternatives.
The club will need to scour far and wide to find a bargain, especially if Kane departs this week.
