Newcastle United legend Shearer is a big fan of Ings, and the former England international striker believes that Southampton will have clubs lining up for him.

Shearer said about Ings on Match of the Day 2 on BBC One (10:45pm, April 4, 2021): “I am pretty sure that there will be enquiries for him. I like him. I think he does the basics very well.

“He is a goalscorer, not afraid to keep getting in there. He loves running the channel and defenders hate that, so there will definitely be enquires for him.”

Danny Ings to Tottenham Hotspur or Manchester City?

Ings is playing well at the moment and is banging in the goals, and there is no surprise that Tottenham and Manchester City reportedly want the former Liverpool striker.

Sergio Aguero will leave City at the end of the season, and despite manager Pep Guardiola’s recent comments about signing a replacement, at the right price, the 28-year-old would be a great signing for the former Premier League champions.

Tottenham are not exactly in desperate need of a striker, but if Harry Kane leaves, then the North London club will have to find a suitable replacement, and Ings does fit the bill.

According to WhoScored, the England international striker has scored nine goals and provided four assists in the Premier League so far this season, and scored 22 goals and provided two assists in the league in 2019-20.

Meanwhile, HampshireLive has claimed that Southampton have entered into talks with defender Jannik Vestergaard over a new contract amid speculation linking him with Tottenham.
