Speaking on both the Que Golazo and Ornstein & Chapman Podcasts, David Ornstein and Fabrizio Romano have both claimed that Liverpool have big plans for the summer transfer window.
The bad news for Liverpool fans is that the Reds don’t want to do much in this January transfer window, but interestingly, both journalists have alluded to a big signing coming in next summer.
“Liverpool will hope that they can go with what they’ve got, and unless something dramatic changes on that front, they won’t be looking to bring a centre-back in, their planning is focused on the summer window, and those plans are already well underway,” Ornstein said on his podcast.
Meanwhile, Romano said something to similar effect on the Que Golazo podcast.
“Liverpool don’t want to spend a lot of money in the January transfer window, they are planning for something interesting next summer, but nothing big right now,” Romano said.

These are two of the most well-connected reporters in the world, so they will have got it on good authority that something is going on at Anfield.
So, the question remains, what on earth could Michael Edwards and Jurgen Klopp be plotting?
Liverpool ought to have a decent transfer kitty at their disposal, after all, they’ve not spent massive fees over the past two years, and there have been hints in recent months that they could sign a world-class player.
There have been links to Dayot Upamecano, Erling Haaland and Kylian Mbappe, and it’s fair to say that any of those players being brought in would certainly constitute something interesting.
This situation is certainly one to keep an eye on, Romano and Ornstein aren’t journalists who’d make such claims unless they’ve had it on good authority that something is going to happen, so there is certainly reason to be excited if you’re a Liverpool fan.
