Tottenham Hotspur left-back Destiny Udogie has been keen to praise an academy player who has made quite an impact for the club on pre-season.

During Tottenham Hotspur’s pre-season tour, the main takeaway from Ange Postecoglou’s second pre-season break with the club has been the academy players.

Forward Mikey Moore has made quite the impact for Tottenham during this pre-season with the striker scoring against Hearts.

Moore has already been compared to Lamine Yamal following his performance against the Scottish Premiership side and the teenager could well be set for more first-team involvement.

As well as Moore, who could be key to fixing a flaw under Postecoglou this season, a teenager, deputising as a defender, has made quite a good impact at the club.

Destiny Udogie keen to praise Jamie Donley

Spurs suffered key injuries to the left-back role with Destiny Udogie suffering problems, whilst Ben Davies has also had his own injury issues.

Emerson Royal and Oliver Skipp were makeshift options at left-back last season but this pre-season, it has been the turn of attacking midfielder Jamie Donley to fill in at left-back.

Speaking to Football.London, Udogie, who Donley could be battling with for the left-back role, was keen to praise the teenager.

“Honestly, he’s been great, he’s been great. I know Jamie really well. He’s an incredible player with a lot of quality so I know what he can do and he can be good in any position,” said the Italian.

“I think what he’s doing is good. I saw him [against Team K League] as well, so he’s performing well and he’s doing great.”

Donley could be another academy player to breakthrough

Last season for Spurs, Postecoglou’s side gave just seven minutes to teenagers in the Premier League but this could be set to change.

With Donley, Mikey Moore, striker Will Lankshear, as well as new signings Gray and Lucas Bergvall, Spurs have a lot of teenagers who could be set for minutes.

Emerson Royal is reportedly closing in on a move to AC Milan and this could see Donley become a key squad player for the club.

Despite being an attacking midfielder, Donley may well be given more chances for the club as a makeshift left-back under Postecoglou.
