Tottenham Hotspur, under Ange Postecoglou, will have to utilise star teenager Mikey Moore to solve a key problem under the Australian.

Ange Postecoglou was appointed Tottenham Hotspur manager last summer with the Australian replacing Antonio Conte in North London with the remit of playing exciting and expansive football.

Tottenham finished in fifth place in the Premier League last season with the Lilywhites missing out on Champions League football to Unai Emery’s Aston Villa.

Tottenham have been busy in the summer transfer market as they aim to cut that gap with Spurs signing English midfielder Archie Gray, which could prove to be one of the signings of the summer.

Whilst things seem positive in North London, there is one aspect the Australian will have to improve on.

Mikey Moore key to improving turgid Tottenham record

Similar to North London rivals Arsenal, Tottenham have a rich history of bringing through young players who go on to be world-class footballers.

The club’s all-time top goalscorer, Harry Kane, was developed through the club’s academy and scored a lorry load of goals, nearly breaking Alan Shearer’s record in the process.

Whilst Gareth Bale was not an academy graduate, instead being developed at Southampton, the Welsh wizard was given a chance to impress at White Hart Lane, before he eventually moved to Real Madrid after he established himself as one of the best players in the Premier League.

For the current Spurs, under Postecoglou, they have certainly not brought through enough academy players. During the 2023/24 season, Spurs gave teenagers just seven minutes in the Premier League and that number has to improve.

Teenage sensation Mikey Moore could be the man to change this for the club.

Moore has to be given chances under Postecoglou this season

Spurs have had a positive pre-season campaign under Postecoglou with new signing Gray excelling against Hearts last month.

One of the players who has really excelled for the Lilywhites during pre-season is teenager Moore and he could be the man to break the hoodoo for Spurs.

Moore has already been compared to Lamine Yamal following his performances during the off-season and he has to be given chances for the club.

Spurs have been keen to add a new centre-forward this summer with Santiago Gimenez a target for the Lilywhites but Moore has to be given game time.

Moore has received interest from Real Madrid and that should tell Spurs the calibre of player they have on their hands and it is paramount that Postecoglou gives the teenager that chance.
