Darren Bent has questioned on Twitter ‘what’s going on’ after Chelsea hijacked Arsenal’s transfer for Shakhtar Donetsk star Mykhailo Mudryk.

The former Tottenham striker, who is a boyhood Arsenal fan, added that ‘I thought Mudryk only wanted to sign for Arsenal’, as Graham Potter’s Chelsea are closing in on a mammoth deal for the Ukraine star, it’s been suggested that owner Todd Boehly is stomping up £89 million for the player and doubling the wage their London rivals were offering.

Well, those in north London are pretty correct to raise such questions about Mudryk and this sudden u-turn because he will now don the colours of Chelsea.

For weeks and weeks now, he hasn’t stopped sending out signal after signal that he wants to join Mikel Arteta’s Premier League table-toppers.

From images on his IG story when Arsenal are playing or even posts where he is praising Arteta, it’s been as clear as day to see that he wanted to head to the Emirates.

But, instead, he is now on the verge of a move to a team that was beaten by newly-promoted Fulham recently and they are sitting tenth in the Premier League table. It’s left many shocked.

ARSENAL SHOULD BE RELIEVED

Last January, Arsenal did things on their own accord when they booted Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang out of the door and opted against going overboard, in terms of finances, for another striker.

Well, fast forward to the present and that’s proven to be a masterstroke.

Once again, they are in a brilliant position. They could just push that boat out now as they chase the title, but with this Mudryk deal, they have opted against meeting such high demands.

And, in the long-term, it will prove to be a success.
