Takumi Minamino has completed a move to French side Monaco from Liverpool with the Ligue 1 outfit confirming his arrival on Tuesday afternoon – a move which sees Leeds and Wolves both miss out on the Japan international.

Minamino, 27, joins Monaco from Liverpool after struggling to earn regular game time at Anfield. Joining the Reds in January 2020, he has been afforded just 53 appearances in all competitions in two and a half years.

Only 40 of those came in the Premier League. Last season, Minamino still managed to score 10 goals but only in 24 games. He recently spoke of feeling angry and frustrated at a lack of game time under Jurgen Klopp.

Leeds and Wolves were keen on Minamino – with £17million enough to convince Liverpool to sell. But it appears Monaco, who have money to burn after selling Aurelien Tchouameni, have announced his arrival.

A shame for both Leeds and Wolves, given Minamino is a top player – when given a chance, he impresses. Even recently, starting a rare Premier League match against Southampton, his old loan side, he scored in a 2-1 win.

Joining Leeds would have seen Minamino reunite with Jesse Marsch, his manager at RedBull Salzburg. The two combined alongside Erling Haaland to impress at Anfield in the Champions League.

Now, Leeds and Wolves will have to consider other signings this summer with Minamino off to France.
