Leeds United want Takumi Minamino but Wolverhampton Wanderers have joined them in the race to sign the Liverpool attacker.

Liverpool are set to lose two attackers this summer with Divock Origi and Sadio Mane heading out of Anfield.

Jurgen Klopp will likely want to focus on getting attackers into the club but there could yet be another departure.

Japanese forward Minamino has been struggling for playing time and may now feel that the time is right for a move away.

Klopp has hailed Minamino as ‘incredible’, but he can’t keep going at Liverpool on praise alone.

Leeds United want Takumi Minamino

Liverpool swooped to sign Minamino from Red Bull Salzburg in January 2020.

Minamino had impressed against Liverpool in the Champions League and a deal worth just £7.25million seemed like a major bargain.

Minamino hasn’t featured regularly for Liverpool, starting just one Premier League game this past season.

Now 27, Minamino can’t afford to be sat on the bench forever and it now looks like he will be sold this summer.

This Is Anfield report that Liverpool are willing to sell Minamino for around £17million this summer.

That’s more than twice the fee they paid for Minamino and a departure looks close with agent Yusuke Akiyama holding talks with various clubs.

It’s noted that Leeds United would like to sign Minamino with boss Jesse Marsch keen on a reunion with the forward.

Marsch coached Minamino in Austria and has previously called him ‘really intelligent’.

Leeds aren’t alone in the race though as Southampton, Wolverhampton Wanderers and Fulham all interested in signing Minamino.

We would make Leeds favourites given that link to Marsch, but with Monaco also interested, they will need to make their move very quickly.

Minamino is now expected to leave Liverpool before Mane does and a reunion with Marsch would surely help get him back on track.
