Takumi Minamino leaving Liverpool is reportedly on the cards, despite his heroics for Jurgen Klopp’s side in midweek.
The Japan international scored one of two Liverpool goals on Tuesday night as the Reds secured a massive 2-1 victory away to Southampton.
This was Minamino’s first Premier League start of the season and the fact that it came in the Anfield outfit’s penultimate domestic game of the campaign speaks volumes for how little a role he’s played since August.
Even Klopp said at full-time that it was a ‘crime’ how little he has used the former Salzburg attacker in the Premier League this season but, the truth is, he isn’t needed on Merseyside.
And Anfield Watch has tonight reported that Inter Milan are among the clubs interested in the 27-year-old.
The report adds that Liverpool would be wanting around £17 million for the player who they signed for only £7.25 million in 2019 [Forbes], meaning that the Reds are in line to make 150 percent profit on the star if that figure materialises.
Earlier on Thursday it was reported in Italy that another Serie A outfit in the form of Lazio were interested in him, meaning he certainly won’t be short on suitors it would seem.
Minamino leaving Liverpool?
His goal in midweek could turn out to be a blessing for Liverpool; not only because it took Klopp’s side back to within a point of Manchester City at the summit of the Premier League, but it was a timely reminder of Minamino’s talents and that should, in theory, raise his profile just in time for the summer window.
Whatever happens, the former Borussia Dortmund manager simply has much better players and staying on Merseyside beyond this summer is looking very unrealistic, it has to be said.
