Liverpool attacker Takumi Minamino has told Sanspo that he felt full of “regret” and “angry” at his lack of game time under Jurgen Klopp last season – with the Japan international a target for Leeds and Wolves, among others.

Minamino, 27, still found the back of the net on 10 occasions for the Reds last season despite only managing 22 appearances. Even in those 22 games, only eight were starts – just 176 minutes in the Premier League.

Little surprise, that a whole host of clubs are lining up to sign Minamino this summer. Reports earlier this month state that Liverpool will let him go for £17million – with Inter Milan and Lazio eyeing a Serie A move for Minamino.

But there is Premier League interest too, from Wolves and Leeds. Now, Minamino has fueled rumours he could leave Anfield this summer by underlining just how “angry” he was at a lack of game time at Liverpool.

“I felt motivated by regret and anger every day. I’ve never had this much time as a player. It was difficult to maintain the condition and connect with my feelings. Many of the games I played weren’t of interest to anyone,” Minamino said.

Minamino does need to leave Liverpool. He is not going to get any more game time next season, especially after the signings of Darwin Nunez and Fabio Carvalho. So, where is his best move this summer?

Leeds are well-stocked out wide. Raphinha, Dan James, Jack Harrison and now Brenden Aaronson. But if Raphinha does go, Minamino would be a solid replacement. Wolves have Pedro Neto and Daniel Podence, among others.

A move to Serie A might suit Minamino but he still has that energy and vigour required to play in the Premier League. Waiting for Raphinha to go, a move to Leeds might be best for Minamino – and a reunion with Jesse Marsch.
