Atletico Madrid’s club president has responded to questions on the future of one star who has been offered to Manchester City.

The Spanish giants are on the lookout for a new striker this summer after allowing Euro 2024 winner Alvaro Morata to leave.

As revealed by HITC, Atletico Madrid have held talks with Julian Alvarez‘s representatives over a potential move this summer.

The Premier League champions insist the 24-year-old forward is not for sale this summer but Alvarez’s team are confident that he will be allowed to leave Manchester City.

It is understood that Atletico are open to offering Joao Felix to City as part of a deal.

Felix has fallen out of favour in the Spanish capital and Atletico Madrid are now trying to find a solution for him this summer.

Atletico president comments on Joao Felix’s future

After being loaned out to Barcelona and Chelsea and now offered to Manchester City – it seems Atletico are eager to offload Felix in one way or another.

Club president Enrique Cerezo has now weighed in on Felix’s future and suggested that they are waiting for him to make a decision on what club to play for.

As quoted by O Jogo, Cerezo said “Right now, he is enjoying a holiday due to his work with the national team and he is a great player, I always say that.

“He will be successful wherever he goes. We have to wait and see what happens and what the player wants.

“Right now, we are waiting for him because he is one of our players, but as I have told you before, players play where they want to play.”

Would Manchester City want Joao Felix?

Felix didn’t particularly set the Premier League alight during his loan spell at Chelsea, so it is hard to see Manchester City pushing for a deal.

The Premier League champions are busy working on other targets, including a potential move for Euro 2024 star Dani Olmo.

Felix is still held in high regard across Europe and is only 24 years old – he is appreciated by former teammate Alvaro Morata who branded him “special” during their time in Madrid together.

Alvarez is exploring his options this summer but City are staying strong with their transfer stance – he is not for sale.

But even if City are out of the equation, if Atletico are eager to part ways with Felix then it opens the door for other Premier League clubs to pounce.
