Tottenham Hotspur’s summer transfer window has been pretty steady so far, with the new Premier League season less than a month away.

It has been a bit of a mixed bag across English football, with the likes of Aston Villa and Chelsea being pretty busy, but others making only one or two key additions.

Tottenham are in the latter boat and you feel the recently concluded European Championships and Copa America have probably played a part in business slowing down.

As of this moment, those at Hotspur Way are satisfied with what their club have done, with Tottenham’s transfer deal for Archie Gray being the standout.

Timo Werner also returned on a season-long loan deal, whilst youngster Lucas Bergvall impressed again after his recent Tottenham display.

But you sense the Spurs fans want more, they want that proven player to come in, someone who can elevate and take their game to the next level.

At the end of the day, Harry Kane, who left last summer for Bayern Munich, hasn’t really been replaced or big money hasn’t been splashed on an attacker.

That’s why presenter Marcus Buckland wants his team to go and sign Manchester United’s Marcus Rashford.

The boyhood Tottenham fan highlighted how Rashford is an ‘icon’ at Old Trafford and it’s crazy to suggest that he might leave now given where he was 18 months ago, as he told talkSPORT (27/07/24 at 5:35 pm).

“If I said to you 18 months ago, they might sell their big man, Marcus Rashford, their icon, you would have looked at me in disbelief,” said Buckland. “It’s funny how things change.”

Darren Ambrose responded: “Of course, it is. We have short memories as football supporters. I think Marcus Rashford has been the main player. He has come through the academy as well. It seems like, from the outside, he has (let himself down with his attitude). He has done a lot for the country as well. That can’t be understated. It’s not looking good for him. Maybe it’s best for everyone for Rashford to get away and have a fresh start and a new challenge.”

Buckland then suggested: “He might work well at Spurs. Ange, have a think.” To which Ambrose responded: “Maybe, maybe.”

Marcus Rashford needs a fresh start

Rashford was axed from England’s Euro 2024 squad this summer and he couldn’t really complain, even if Gareth Southgate’s side produced abject performances and were beaten in the final by Spain.

The 26-year-old struck 17 Premier League goals a few seasons back, but then fell flat on his face and only scored seven last term.

You could see a player of Rashford’s quality and ability to run in behind and how he would cause havoc in a Postecoglou system.

This is the type of signing that would excite Spurs fans, and for the player himself, the type of move he needs because a fresh start is required.
