HITC sources have confirmed that West Ham United have re-opened talks with Manchester United over Aaron Wan-Bissaka.

West Ham have been in talks with a host of right-backs this summer, but have yet to finalise a deal, with the new Premier League season less than a month away.

The Hammers have a new manager in the dugout – Julen Lopetegui – and he will kick off the new era at the London Stadium with a showdown against Aston Villa on August 17.

A new defensive signing has already arrived after West Ham United signed centre-back Max Kilman from Wolves, but they are keen to continue reshaping a backline that conceded 74 goals last term.

West Ham United’s right-back woes

West Ham talked with Southampton over Kyle Walker-Peters and Manchester United over Wan-Bissaka, but terms could not be agreed.

Most recently, West Ham agreed terms with Bayern Munich for Noussair Mazraoui, but that collapsed, as a deal could not be agreed with the player.

Indeed, HITC understands that Mazraoui wants to move to Manchester United and be reunited with Erik ten Hag, his former Ajax boss, and they have an interest, but only if Wan-Bissaka were to leave, and that could very well happen.

West Ham re-open talks for Aaron Wan-Bissaka

HITC can confirm that West Ham have re-opened talks about a deal for Wan-Bissaka – sources have confirmed that Wan-Bissaka’s representatives have good relations with the Hammers.

The two clubs are in talks, but there is also the need to finalise the 28-year-old’s contract as he is on a good contract at Old Trafford and also that Manchester United would be open to him staying.

Manchester United were beaten 2-1 by Arsenal in a pre-season friendly on Sunday, with Wan-Bissaka starting the match at right-back.

He featured in 30 games in all competitions for Manchester United last season – with injuries disrupting his campaign – but he played in the FA Cup final and helped his team beat Manchester City.
