Arsenal have officially promoted Edu Gaspar to the role of Sporting Director as he and Mikel Arteta attempt to make the January transfer window count.
The Brazilian was acting as Technical Director at the Emirates Stadium, although his promotion means he will now assume responsibility for all academy activities as well.
Arsenal will hope to bolster their squad to maintain their position at the top of the Premier League in January, so here are the three most likely signings for Edu and Arteta to make.
Youri Tielemans
Now, we would be very surprised if Tielemans doesn’t join Arsenal, based on an overwhelming volume of reports.
Voetbal Primeur believe the Gunners already have an agreement with the Belgium international, who sees his contract with Leicester expire at the end of the season.
Fabrizio Romano has confirmed that no extension will be signed, so if this move doesn’t happen in January – which we feel it will – a transfer will surely materialise in the summer for the man Leicester paid £40m for.
Mykhaylo Mudryk
The Shakhtar Donetsk No.10 also looks highly likely to join Arsenal in January.
Mudryk has already admitted to Vlada Zinchenko – the wife of Oleksandr Zinchenko – that he would be upset if he didn’t get to leave the Ukrainian giants in January, after Calciomercato claimed Arsenal had made a £53m bid.
Interestingly, the Ukraine international also told Vlada Zinchenko that he has been learning English, so a move to the Premier League seems very possible.
Evan Ndicka
Similarly to Tielemans, Arsenal could secure a second January bargain in Ndicka.

The France Under-21 international is said to be a winter target for Arteta – according to the Evening Standard – and Calciomercato believe he can be signed for just £7m with his contract also expiring at the end of the season.
With doubts over the quality of Rob Holding as a backup, we believe Ndicka will move to north London in January.
