Speaking on the House of Champions Podcast, Fabrizio Romano has been discussing Youri Tielemans’ future after a summer of speculation.
The Belgian midfielder was the centre of so many stories this summer as he entered the final year of his contract at Leicester City.
Arsenal have been widely credited with an interest, and according to Romano the midfielder has now made up his mind to leave Leicester on a free transfer this summer.

Tielemans leaving
Romano says that the Belgian midfielder will be leaving on a free at the end of the season.
“It is quiet because he will not sign a new contract with Leicester. 100 per cent. He will leave on a free. He already decided one year ago. I see Tielemans leaving on a free and I see Tielemans as a big opportunity in the market. He’s underrated, he’s young, he’s talented, he’s Premier League proven, he’s a great midfielder in a position where it is hard to find top players. There will be a big race, Arsenal wanted him in the summer and other English clubs are exploring this race,” Romano said.
Chance for a bargain
Signing Tielemans on a free transfer represents a very rare and exciting opportunity for any potential suitors.
As the Belgian has shown over many years, he’s one of the most technically gifted players in the Premier League, and with a bit more refining and tactical nous, he could be an absolute superstar.
He’d be perfect for a team like Arsenal who are lacking depth in their midfield at the moment, and it wouldn’t be a surprise at all if the Gunners did explore this deal in the summer.
Tielemans is certainly a player to keep an eye on in the coming months as his contract winds down.
